Dr. Zongxuan Jiang received his Bachelor degree from Xihua Normal University (1984) and his Master degree in physical chemistry from Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (1991) under the guidance of Prof. Qin Xin and Prof. Can Li, where he researched in-situ FT-IR characterization for oxidation of low hydrocarbons on rare earth oxides. From 1991-2000, he worked at Fushun Research Institute of Petroleum and Petrochemicals, SINOPEC in the hydrotreating catalyst development and applied fundamental research as a senior engineer. He received his Ph.D. degree in physical chemistry from Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (2003) under the supervision of Prof. Can Li. His Ph.D. dissertation is on the ultra-deep desulfurization via a combination process of selective catalytic oxidation and adsorption (or extraction). From 2003-2004, he worked as a post-doctor in Institut de Recherches sur la Catalyse (IRC) in Lyon, France, undertaking “Preparation, Characterization, and Catalytic HDS of Nano-sulfides” under the supervision of Dr. Michel Vrinat and Dr. Pavel Afanasiev. In the last December, he was offered a position of associate professor in the State Key laboratory of Catalysis, Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics.

   His research interests focus on environmental catalysis and material chemistry, such as design, preparation, and characterization of hydrotreating catalysts, ultra-deep desulfurization with adsorption and oxidation, synthesis of nanostructured materials (nano-sulfides).
