503Group POSTED:2011-08-02

Shi Qiu, a PhD student in the group, attended 13th International Conference on Chiroptical Spectroscopy (CD2011) at Oxford, UK from Sunday 24 July to Thursday 28 July 2011, and gave an oral presentation titled as “pH-Dependent Chirality of L-Proline studied by ROA and DFT calculation”. International Scientific Advisory Committee was constituted by Laurence BarronNina Berova and so on. This conference was held by Diamond Light Source, the UK’s national synchrotron science facility. The broad spectrum of oral and poster presentations created an interdisciplinary forum in the emerging techniques of Chiroptical Spectroscopy such as vibrational CD and Raman Optical Activity and their applications, highlighting the following scientific and technological themes: Protein Folding; Biopolymer Structural Characterisation (Proteins, DNA, RNA, Carbohydrates, Lipids); Ligand binding; VCD and ROA; Nanoparticles (Materials and Surface science); Theory and Computational Chemistry; Homochirality; Instrumentation (SRCD Advancement, New Techniques); Biopharmaceutics (Process Analytical Technology, Biosimilarity and Product Comparison); Stereochemistry and Structural Determination.
